In the winter and spring of 2002, Denver Public Schools and the Denver Classroom Teachers Association embarked on a new round of contract negotiations. The talks were conducted with an approach called interest-based bargaining. The result was an early settlement and, more importantly, a common understanding of issues and challenges being addressed by Denver Public Schools. The goal of improved student achievement served as a guiding principle throughout the negotiations. The new “agreement and partnership” includes a statement of common beliefs and a framework for partnership articulating our shared commitment for successfully implementing the agreement.
In that spirit, this web site is being jointly managed by the district and the teachers association and will provide information about the new agreement contract and its implementation. This page will also serve as a forum for questions about the contract. Questions and answers will be posted under Frequently Asked Questions. Teachers and administrators may e-mail questions to partnership@dpsk12.org. Questions that have a district-wide bearing will be posted, along with the response. Please take a minute and browse through this site. The elements to be posted will change from time to time, so please drop in often.
