National Board Certification GrantThe DCTA and DPS are sponsoring five candidates to complete the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards process. JOINT DPS-DCTA SPONSORSHIP OF NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION CANDIDATES Dear Teachers: The Denver Public Schools and the Denver Classroom Teachers Association are sponsoring 5 candidates to complete the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) process, as outlined in the Agreement and Partnership (Article 31-7-1). If you are interested in undertaking this challenging and rewarding endeavor, we would like to encourage you to apply for up to $1500 as reimbursement for your certification fees. For more information on National Board certification, go to the following website: http://www.nbpts.org/standards/nbcert.cfm To apply for the DPS-DCTA funding for this school year, you need to apply to NBPTS prior to December 31, 2003. Please complete the short application form below and attach an essay (maximum 500 words), reflecting on the five core propositions of the NBPTS. Teachers are committed to students and their learning. Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects. Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning. Teachers think systematically about their practice and learn from experience. Teachers are members of learning communities. Applications and essays should be sent to the DCTA Office to the attention of Kim Ursetta, or faxed to 303-831-0591 by January 30, 2004.
